Stonehenge has long been a religious mystery located in South England. This 5000 year old circle of stones has been puzzling people for years. Who made it? How was it made? and WHY?
What is it?
Stonehenge is a great stone monument from the Bronze age. Additionally, each stone at this place weighs over 50 tons.
This odd structure on the Salisbury Plain has been x-rayed, measured, excavated and surveyed. And yet, the largest questions about it have not been answered. This is because of the fact that it was built in the prehistoric Neolithic age, when there were no written records.
Because the builders of Stonehenge remain unknown, it is almost impossible to find out their reasoning behind it. All we can do is make educated guess.
My hypothesis on the reason prehistoric people built this stone arrangement is that they wanted to placate the gods or spirits that they believed in.
I think, that it's circular structure creates an enclosed area for things to go in the middle, such as a sacrifice. Not only, was the hard work and tedious hours of construction a sacrifice to their gods, but also whatever goes in the center. This is an informational video of Stonehenge. It explains its history, what goes on there today, what questions historians are looking to answer and what might have happened.
